Day 2: Magic Kingdom!

This was the day I was most looking forward to... taking the girls to Magic Kingdom!! They were excited!! Ashleigh wanted to wear her Anna and Elsa shirt AND her Elsa dress.

We ended up riding the ferry over to Magic Kingdom so that is where we saw our first glimpse of Cinderella's castle. Ashleigh's face just lit up! She was so excited about seeing a castle! It was a little cool so the girls put on their jackets.

There it is!!!

We are here!!

We went to meet Tinkerbell first! We were interested to see how the girls would interact with the characters today. Tinkerbell was lovely and chatted with the girls quite a bit. Ashleigh and Miriam were both really excited to see her. Miriam still hung back a bit and wanted to be held, but she offered up some big smiles. Ashleigh just loved every minute of it! (Can you tell by the huge grin on her face?!)

Ashleigh loved having the characters sign her autograph book.

Having such a great experience meeting Tinkerbell made us REALLY excited about meeting the other characters at the park!!

We worked our way toward the castle and then on Fantasyland!

The first ride we rode was Prince Charming's Regal Carousel. The girls loved it!

Then we went to meet Anna and Elsa! The girls didn't know and all of us adults were so excited!! As we walked into the hall and saw Anna and Elsa, Ashleigh just gasped in amazement. She walked as fast as she could over to Elsa and gave her a huge hug.

Making a pinkie-promise with Anna.

Miriam LOVED Anna. She got down out of my arms and gave Anna the sweetest hug! I think we all teared up. It was just so precious and touching.

I mean, just LOOK at how proud Ashleigh is right now. Unreal.

Then we walked over to Frontierland to ride The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This was cute. It was basically just like the iconic Dumbo ride.

Then we went on Pirates of the Caribbean. In retrospect, this may not have been our wisest move. Ashleigh and Miriam weren't, ahem, too keen on this ride. Ashleigh cried in Matt's lap, and Miriam just covered her eyes and lowered her head.  It was sad but OH so cute. We opted for a much happier ride next...

Now the girls loved this! Ashleigh was definitely singing along by the end of the ride. Their eyes were just open in amazement the whole time. Miriam kept pointing at EVERYTHING!
And we had to take a video so my dad could listen to his most favorite song of all time! :) hehehe.

We also walked through the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. I have memories of walking through this treehouse on Disney trips when I was very young. This was one of my favorite attractions back then.

We were getting hungry at this point, so we went to eat lunch at Belle's castle!! Soooo cool! We chose to sit in the ballroom.

The food was good but the girls were tired and cranky! Fortunately the food rejuventated them a bit. They were ready to go out and experience more Disney fun!

Ashleigh was ready to ride her first roller coaster: The Barnstormer! She LOVED it and squealed with delight the entire time!

Miriam hung back with Grandma and Grandpa and listened to a marching band. Evidently she loved it and even convinced Grandpa and Grandma to dance with her!

Of course, we had to ride the legendary Dumbo ride while in Fantasyland!

We walked to Main Street just in time to find a great spot to watch the parade. The parade was so wonderful!   The girls had prime spots (on our shoulders) and loved waving and saying (yelling?) hello to the princesses and other characters. (Funniest part was when the dragon from Sleeping Beauty came roaring by... Miriam really didn't care for that dragon and simply covered her eyes and put her face down on top of my head til the dragon was gone! Too funny!).

Once Ashleigh saw a character, she would wave and call out their name until they had passed. She was determined that they would hear her and look directly at her!

(Long video of their reactions to seeing the characters)

After the parade, we headed straight to meet Mr. Mickey Mouse himself!

We then went back to the Princess Fairytale Hall to meet Cinderella and Rapunzel.

I just love the looks of adoration on the faces of our kiddos.  You just can't put those feelings into words. :)

We rode a few more rides and Ashleigh finally got to ride the one she had been begging to ride all day: The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We had to wait in line for about 45 minutes with her, but it was worth it. She laughed and squealed the entire time! She is definitely our thrill seeker!

We met up with everyone else at a restaurant and quickly grabbed some food before they closed. We ended up watching the fireworks from inside because Miriam was passed out in the stroller and Ashleigh was terrified of the loud sounds.

Good night, Disney World!

I'd say it was a pretty successful day!
