We just had a very busy weekend!
On Friday, Ginger and Kris flew in for a super short visit (and we are so thankful for them being willing and able to come see us!!). Matt and Ashleigh went to meet them at the airport while Miriam and I enjoyed some quiet time at home. We spent Friday afternoon and evening playing outside and grilling hamburgers (and veggie burgers). We had our traditional Friday night picnic.
On Saturday, we all headed to St. Clair Shores for the ordination of Sarah Flatt! Ginger, Kris, and Matt were all participating in the service, so we got there early for rehearsal. There was a garage sale going on across the street from the church, so Ashleigh and I went to check it out. Look what she found!!
The ordination was beautiful, and it was followed by a great big party at the Flatt’s house. Ashleigh was so excited about the pool!!
On Sunday, we headed to All Saints, but Matt wasn’t leading service. He got to be DAD for the day! Bishop Schleicher led the service and baptized our precious Miriam into her new family! She was a perfect angel (except for all the hiccups during the sermon!) Kris did an excellent job in his role as Godfather (and Godmother since Ginger had to fly back home on Saturday night!)
And for the grandparents (who were there in spirit!), you can view the entire baptism here!
Happy Baptismal Day, Miriam! We love you!
After we took Kris back to the Grand Rapids airport, we decided to drive around a bit. Several folks had mentioned that 28th Street had lots of shopping/activities, so we headed that way. As we rounded the bend, I saw the most glorious sign-
KRISPY KREME!! (You have no idea how excited I was!)
While we were there, the HOT sign came on, and as soon as the donuts were fried and glazed, they were handed out to everyone in the store. Oh glorious deliciousness!
