21 month update

The older she gets, the more we are just amazed at how many cool things she can do! She surprises us everyday with her new words and actions. These updates are getting harder and harder to write because she is learning so much and it’s hard to remember all the new things she is doing! I need to keep a notepad right next to me every day so I can jot everything down!

(Yes, she is eating a rock in this picture. So what?!) Smile

She is repeating a lot of words that we say, but the words above are words that she will say without being prompted. I just love hearing our girl talk!

At 21 months, Ashleigh…

-has started learning how to count! (We thought she was just repeating what numbers we said, but then we realized she was filling in the numbers…. We would way 1,2,3, and she would say 4! Her favorite numbers to say are 4, 8, and 9.

-can now reach items on our tables and counters. Nothing is safe anymore!!

-likes to help buckle her harness in the car.

-enjoys playing around the sprinkler, but doesn’t like running through the sprinkler yet.

-likes to hug Arden and say bye bye to her when we leave the house. Arden tolerates the hugs! She also likes giving her treats.

-is starting to use her imagination! You can hear her “talking” in different voices when she plays with some of her stuffed animals or Little People.

-likes to color and draw using crayons.

-likes to organize things. Her favorite thing to organize is her shoes. She has to line them up perfectly side by side before she can put them on.

-loves to play with things with wheels…. trucks, cars, trains, tractors, wagons, and strollers! She loves to push her strollers all over the farm when we are playing outside!

- knows how to get to Netflix on our phones and tablet… normally she picks something good to watch, like Sesame Street or Veggie Tales, but every once in a while, she will choose adult cartoons like Futurama, and we have to change it to something appropriate!

-has lots of new teeth! I think her last molar is finally pushing its way through her gums. Boy those molars are killers!! Teething has always been a breeze for her, but the molars definitely affected her: runny nose, irritability, icky diapers, waking up at night… whew!

-loves to read to herself! She could spend hours just looking at her books!

-likes to go swimming! We have been in the pool a couple of times this summer so far, and she has loved it!

-is becoming quite independent!

-likes to pick out her own snack now. She loves to stand in front of the refrigerator and pantry and choose what she wants to eat. Usually she makes pretty good choices! (Then again, we don’t really feed her unhealthy foods and sweets, so she doesn’t even know that that kind of food exists!)

-can answer our questions! It’s so neat to have mini-conversations with her!

-says “not nice” when she knows she is doing something wrong!

-likes to make funny faces! This is by far one of our favorite activities recently… making funny faces at each other and laughing!

-likes to tickle us and blow raspberries on our tummies!

-loves to throw things away in the trashcan.

-can climb up on our bed and the guest bed (but is not climbing in and out of her crib yet, thank goodness!)

-makes new animal sounds:

monkey- haha

roadrunner- meep meep

chicken- cluck cluck

-loves to play in the dirt!!

-likes blowing bubbles.

-loves playing with her friends, especially Frankie!

-enjoys washing the cars.

20120618_15514520120618_155214

-loves to be outside!

She is one busy girl!

  1. Love it! =) Thanks for sharing the updates on Ashleigh. When did she start talking? (Norah hasn't said a single word yet, and it's getting a bit frustrating.)
