18 months old

A year and a half? Seriously?

That’s all I have to say about that (before I get too teary!!)

Our little toddler is just a mess these days. She is in to everything! She is totally interested in anything that anyone else is doing (NOSY!). She mimics our actions and our words. She does things to make us laugh (on purpose!). She is just an overall nut.

Here are the animals sounds that she knows and can tell us:

Kitty cat (meOWW)

Lion (grrrrrr)

Cow (moooooooo)

Owl  (hoo)

Dog  (oof)

Camel (yes, her daddy taught her how to “pretend spit”)

Fish (pops her lips together)

wolf (“ooooooo”) with her chin pointed up

The other words that she consistently says include:

Daddy

Momma (FINALLY!!)

please (“peas”)

pray (“pay”)

bye bye (not just “bye”)

frog (“hah”)

bird (“bir”)

car (“ca”)

plane (“pay”)

teeth (“tee”)

book (“buh”)

hearts (“hah”)

ball (“bah”)

pray (“pay”)

She has definitely started mimicking us. She tries to say the words that we say. It’s so funny to hear her “unique” pronunciations. :)

Her sign language is getting better, too. She signs “more”, “eat”, “drink”, “all done”, “I love you”, “hat”, “shoes”, “brush teeth”, “book”, “cold”, and “hot”.

We have been able to spend more time outside thanks to an unusually warm March in Michigan. We’ll take it! Ashleigh LOVES to go run around outside and play at the park. She loves to swing and slide (by herself!).

At her 18 month appointment, Ashleigh was 19lbs 6 oz (still so tiny!) and 32 inches tall! She is a tall and skinny gal. She did a great job at her appointment and enjoyed showing off all of her skills to the doctor.

At 18 months, Ashleigh…

-wears size 12-18 month clothing.

-wears size 3 and 4 diapers.

- walks and runs all over the place. We are working on jumping!

-likes to chase after Arden and Hobbes.

-likes to wear our shoes around the house.

-enjoys coloring in her coloring books (and attempting to eat the crayon tips!)

-is starting to learn her shapes and colors.

-has gotten sneaky! She KNOWS when she’s not supposed to do something and she runs away from us. Oh dear.

-loves to sort things.

-likes flipping through magazines and newspapers.

-walks down the stairs holding on to the railing.

-can identify many animals.

-loves looking for planes flying in the sky.

-has 7 teeth now (4 on top, 3 on the bottom).

-has gotten even more attached to blankets. If she spies a blanket, she runs over to it and falls down on top of it.

-likes to climb (especially on top of the coffee table)!

-has started drinking out of regular cups and straws. She is SO proud of herself!

-is just so smart. We can’t believe how quickly she learns new words and concepts!
