Up, up, and away…

Ashleigh has been scooting on her stomach all over the place for the past month and a half, but just recently she has figured out how to pop up on her knees. Every time she does it, she gets a bit steadier and is able to stay balanced for a little longer. Take a look!

8 months old (9 days late)

I’m just a little late reporting about Ashleigh’s 8th month. We’ve been quite busy! Here is our precious girl celebrating 8 months!
DSC_1329
What is she up to these days?
Ashleigh is…
-scooting all over the place (on her belly and using her feet to propel her forward)
-waving (in a backwards kind of way)
-recognizes people that are familiar to her and gets anxious when she doesn’t recognize anyone
-trying to figure out how to clap
-starting to try to say words (definitely mama and dada)
-figuring out that she can throw temper tantrums when she doesn’t get her way ( oh dear…)
-likes to make lots of different noises
-makes funny faces
-loves when people clap
-is VERY nosy (she has to know what’s going on around her!)
-likes to bang on things
-is figuring out what her toys do (she knows that if she hits the piano keys, it will make noise, and if she squeezes her toy puppy that it will sing songs)
-is wearing size 2 diapers
- is wearing mostly 6 month clothing, although a lot of her 6 month stuff is still too big
-smiles all the time Smile
-knows how to get from a seated position down to her belly so she can go scoot around
- is eating all kinds of (homemade) baby foods… her favorites are definitely pears, sweet potatoes, and squash
-is not doing a great job of sleeping lately… very fussy when it’s time to go to bed or take naps (I’m partially blaming this on the fact that she’s so nosy and is afraid she’s going to miss something)
-starting to give “kisses” (aka. open mouth slobbers)
-shakes her head “no” when she doesn’t want to eat (she’s really just trying to avoid the spoon but it looks like she’s saying no)
-cocks her head to the right side and smiles when she’s being shy
We spent her 8 month birthday down in Charleston visiting Grandma Kathy since she was down there for a conference.

Zoo trip

What better way to celebrate the end of a 4 year seminary journey? Why, going to the zoo, of course! Many of the seniors gathered for a day of fun at Riverbanks Zoo. This was Ashleigh’s third trip to the zoo (she went at 2 weeks old and at one month old), but we were excited about taking her this time because we felt she would be to able to actually notice some of the animals this time. I do believe she had a blast!

Ashleigh loved the aquarium. She had a great time watching the colorful fish and making all kinds of funny sounds as the fish swam quickly away.
