Easter Sunday

For Easter, we were invited to the Oesterle’s house for their family Easter luncheon and Easter Egg Hunt. The Oesterles are members of All Saints in Mason. We headed over there around 1:30 after Ashleigh’s nap. They created an Easter Egg Hunt just for Ashleigh since she was the only little kid there. Ashleigh had a great time looking for all the eggs hidden around their front yard!

Here is a video of her hunting eggs. It was SO windy outside!!

Ashleigh had a wonderful time playing football with all the big kids and adults and walking through Dawn’s flower beds (oops!) She took a nasty fall onto the concrete sidewalk which left that nice red spot on her forehead, but she recovered quickly!

When we came home, we let her look in her Easter basket. She enjoyed all of her goodies!

Saying NO

Oh dear, I know it’s not good to laugh when your child says NO, but it sure is funny when Ashleigh does it!

She sticks her little lips out and says NOOOO!

Fortunately, right now, she doesn’t really know what she’s saying. She just likes saying the word NO! We’ll stop playing this game once she figures out what NO means and that she shouldn’t say NO to momma or daddy! Smile

(Sorry that the sound doesn’t match the vide0- small glitch when recording)

Walking down the stairs

Our little girl is getting way too independent!
(We only let her walk down the stairs by herself when we are standing right there with her in case she falls, just in case anyone was worried!)

Her new infatuation is baby dolls! She likes to hold them, wrap them in blankets, and rock them. Oh it is so sweet to watch! Today she wanted to carry her baby doll up and down the stairs.

Easter Egg Hunt

We took Ashleigh to the capitol building in Lansing today for a super large Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Jaycees.  It was so crowded! The actual egg hunt lasted less than 10 seconds before all the eggs had been snatched up. Ashleigh ended up with one egg. She picked up several other eggs but kept walking over to other kids and putting the eggs in their baskets. What a big heart! She just wanted to share!

Yay for Easter Egg Hunts!

While were there, we walked around the capitol building grounds.

We saw the Easter Bunny. Ashleigh was really excited to see him! She even kissed his hands!

She also enjoyed seeing McGruff… she kissed his nose and gave him a fist bump.

18 months old

A year and a half? Seriously?

DSC_5312

That’s all I have to say about that (before I get too teary!!)

Our little toddler is just a mess these days. She is in to everything! She is totally interested in anything that anyone else is doing (NOSY!). She mimics our actions and our words. She does things to make us laugh (on purpose!). She is just an overall nut.

DSC_5326

Here are the animals sounds that she knows and can tell us:

Kitty cat (meOWW)

Lion (grrrrrr)

Cow (moooooooo)

Owl  (hoo)

Dog  (oof)

Camel (yes, her daddy taught her how to “pretend spit”)

Fish (pops her lips together)

wolf (“ooooooo”) with her chin pointed up

The other words that she consistently says include:

Daddy

Momma (FINALLY!!)

please (“peas”)

pray (“pay”)

bye bye (not just “bye”)

frog (“hah”)

bird (“bir”)

car (“ca”)

plane (“pay”)

teeth (“tee”)

book (“buh”)

hearts (“hah”)

ball (“bah”)

pray (“pay”)

She has definitely started mimicking us. She tries to say the words that we say. It’s so funny to hear her “unique” pronunciations. :)

Her sign language is getting better, too. She signs “more”, “eat”, “drink”, “all done”, “I love you”, “hat”, “shoes”, “brush teeth”, “book”, “cold”, and “hot”.

We have been able to spend more time outside thanks to an unusually warm March in Michigan. We’ll take it! Ashleigh LOVES to go run around outside and play at the park. She loves to swing and slide (by herself!).

At her 18 month appointment, Ashleigh was 19lbs 6 oz (still so tiny!) and 32 inches tall! She is a tall and skinny gal. She did a great job at her appointment and enjoyed showing off all of her skills to the doctor.

At 18 months, Ashleigh…

-wears size 12-18 month clothing.

-wears size 3 and 4 diapers.

- walks and runs all over the place. We are working on jumping!

-likes to chase after Arden and Hobbes.

-likes to wear our shoes around the house.

-enjoys coloring in her coloring books (and attempting to eat the crayon tips!)

-is starting to learn her shapes and colors.

-has gotten sneaky! She KNOWS when she’s not supposed to do something and she runs away from us. Oh dear.

-loves to sort things.

-likes flipping through magazines and newspapers.

-walks down the stairs holding on to the railing.

-can identify many animals.

-loves looking for planes flying in the sky.

-has 7 teeth now (4 on top, 3 on the bottom).

-has gotten even more attached to blankets. If she spies a blanket, she runs over to it and falls down on top of it.

-likes to climb (especially on top of the coffee table)!

-has started drinking out of regular cups and straws. She is SO proud of herself!

-is just so smart. We can’t believe how quickly she learns new words and concepts!

She walks in high heels better than her momma!

Ashleigh walked out of her bedroom yesterday wearing this:

DSC_5342

She found my high heels! She quickly found out that she liked walking in the bathroom the best… she loved the sound the heels made on the floor!

DSC_5348DSC_5350DSC_5355DSC_5357DSC_5359DSC_5361

After wearing one high heel shoe for about 10 minutes, she went searching for the matching shoe so she could wear two shoes! And that’s when I ran downstairs to get the video camera…

Funny girl!
