July 4th weekend

We had a lovely time celebrating our nation’s independence by spending time with some family. On Sunday, we spent the day with Matt’s dad and stepmom and their extended family. We watched a parade in their neighborhood, ate delicious hamburgers, and celebrated with the newlyweds, Katie and Dave.

On Monday, we went over to my parents’ house to celebrate with my granddaddy and uncle. We ate some delicious barbeque and had fun watching Ashleigh “swim” in her new swimming pool.

What a fun-filled weekend!

A guide to a baby’s daily life

10 months old!

On July 18, our baby turned double digits!! She is growing up so quickly and changing so much!

We've realized that Ashleigh is starting to “get” new concepts… for example, when we are eating food, she comes towards us and smacks her lips. She has also started pointing at objects that she wants (especially when she wants her Puffs to eat!).

At 10 months old, Ashleigh…

-weighs approx. 14 1/2 lbs (just a guess since we haven’t been to the doctor this month)

- is about 26 inches tall (once again, just a guess, but she is definitely getting taller!)

-is pulling herself up to a standing position on just about anything! Her favorite places to pull up are in her crib, on the entertainment center, and on the couches.

-is giving kisses (which just melts our heart!)

-is wearing size 6 month clothing (mostly) and some 6-9 month clothing.

-is still wearing size 2 diapers, but as soon as this pack is finished, we’ll move her up to size 2-3 diapers.

-is waving to people (and objects that she wants)

-loves chasing after the cat and dog and trying to eat their food.

-has been struggling with sleeping at night and during naps because all she wants to do is stand up in her crib…sigh…

-loves to sleep on her stomach with her little bottom stuck up in the air.

-smiles ALL the time!

-enjoys sticking her tongue out and making clicking noises.

-loves to talk and babble (although no “real” words yet)

-loves reading her books. I think those are her favorite toys!

-has lots of blonde hair growing in! It seems like every time we wash her hair, it gets blonder.

-definitely has her daddy’s skin. We try to keep her out of  the direct sun, and she’s already tanner than mommy!

-still scoots all over the place on her belly. She uses her forearms and legs to propel her around the house.

-is still eating solid foods 3 times a day and breastfeeding 4 times a day.

-loves eating Cheerios and Gerber puffs.

-is recognizing some sign language, especially “eat”, “more”, and “all done.”

We love you, Ashleigh!

Go Gamecocks!

Congratulations to our Carolina Gamecocks on winning back-to-back College World Series National Championship titles! We cheered them on through every game, even the ones that went late into the night due to extra innings. GO COCKS!!
