Marvelous Miriam turns ONE!

Our sweet baby is now a one year old! Where did the last year go?!

Wasn't it just yesterday that "big sister" Ashleigh shared our big news?

Wasn't it just yesterday that I felt you kick for the first time?

Wasn't it just yesterday that we found out we were having another little girl?

Wasn't it just yesterday that we were anticipating your impending arrival?

Wasn't it just yesterday that we met you for the first time?

Wasn't it just yesterday that we discovered that our hearts truly were big enough to love two amazing children?

Little one, you add a whole new level of craziness to our family. You have the sweetest smile, the kindest eyes, and your open-mouthed kisses...well... they kind of take my breath away (in a good way, of course!). You are the best little sister, and boy do you adore your big sis! Your happy shrieks of sheer joy echo through the house and cause us to smile all day along. There isn't one thing we would change about you (although I would love it if you started sleeping through the night eventually...)

I cannot believe it's been a year since you so suddenly decided to arrive (on your due date, none the less!). You were ready to enter this world. I will never forget my labor with you. It showed me how strong I can really be (especially when there's no time for pain meds!). You have taught me so much in your one year of life, and I can't wait to see what other lessons you plan to teach us along the way. We love you, our darling Miriam!

Here is our sweet one year old!

At 12 months, Miriam is...

-trying to stand up by herself. ( No pictures of that yet- she's too fast!)

-climbing up everything. Oh dear. 

-says a few words, but her favorites are "Hi" and "Daddy" and "Hi Daddy!" (hmph)

-loves, loves , loves to give kisses!

-pulls herself up on any furniture that she is near.

-has tried to stand up by herself a few times!

-simply adores her big sister!

-has 8 teeth!! (three on the bottom, four top teeth, and one molar on her top right!)

-weighs 17 lbs 15 oz (20%) and is 28.5 inches tall (22%)

-wears size 3 diapers still and mostly 9-12 month clothing

-crawls all over the place (and always keeps her toes off the ground!)

-bear crawls when on the grass!

-still likes to nap with her momma every once in a while

-blows kisses!

-is a great eater! She hasn't really met any foods she hasn't liked! Although, we have gotten to the stage where she throws everything off her tray!

-likes to sit in the cart at the stores.

-likes to talk, sing, and dance! (I love her little face watching me sing at church!)

We celebrated on her actual birthday by having a cookout with our dear friends whose second son is born 2 weeks after Miriam. Since we will be out of town for his birthday party, this cookout was our chance to celebrate both babies! :)

Wasn't it just yesterday we were comparing baby bumps?

After the party, Miriam decided she wanted to figure out how to climb up on top of the picnic table!

And then she showed off her new crawl that she likes to do outside. Those knees do not like the grass!

We let Miriam have a cupcake the day after her birthday... she certainly loves eating cake!

She also got to open her birthday presents! She wanted to try them all out immediately. :)
