2 years… you’re so big!

At Ashleigh’s two year well check, she was 23 lbs (still a tiny thing, but growing!) and 34 inches tall. She is so tall and skinny! She is wearing some 18 month and 24 month clothing. Thank goodness her wonderful grandparents and godparents shipped us some winter clothing for her because it is chilly now!

Ashleigh talks so much these days, and her mannerisms are quite comical.  She is saying much longer phrases and sentences, and we can understand her most of the time.

She likes to choose her snack now, so as she stands in front of the pantry or open fridge door, she always says, “How about… THIS one!” and then she will point to something she wants. It’s pretty cute!

She is our very own backseat driver. If we are driving down the road and she sees anything in the road (another car, bus, etc) she starts waving her hands out in her front of her and yelling “Watch out!! The bus!” She lets us know if anything is in our way.

She loves playing with her train set. We finally pulled it out of her closet because she is obsessed with playing with the train set at Keans (our local five and dime store). She knows how to put the track pieces together by herself.

She can count from 1-10 very consistently on our own, and she can identify many of her alphabet letters. She received some alphabet and number puzzles for her birthday, and those have helped her so much!

She loves to give treats to Arden and Hobbes. Watch this cute video of how she gives treats.

She still loves to play outside, although those days are becoming fewer and far between now that fall is here.  Some days it is just too cold and windy to even venture outside! ( I know, this is nothing compared to what winter will be like, but I’m just not ready for the nice warm weather to go away!)

Playgrounds are her favorite. Slides, swings. She loves it all.

She knows where different things are around town now. If we are driving near Meijer, she will say, “Look! The store! I ride the horsie!” (the mechanical horse inside the store). She also likes to pitch a fit when we drive BY Meijer, because she knows that means she doesn’t get to ride the horse. She does the same thing when we drive by Keans, where she knows they have that fun train set. I’ve started learning some new roads around town!

(Speaking of temper tantrums, this is what she does she doesn’t get her way)

She loves to play Peekaboo behind the (sheer) shower curtain. She thinks it’s hilarious when we can’t find her. She says “Peek-e-hoo!”

Ashleigh is quite proficient when using our phones. She now enjoys taking photos. See?

She is still sleeping well at night (11hours or so) and at naptime (1-2 hours). I am thankful for her good sleeping habits (especially when I think back to a year ago and how I thought I was going to lose my mind over this child’s lack of sleep!) She love sleeping with stuffed animals, books, and blankets. This girl is a blanket lover. Good thing we have a lot of those around our house! Her green and pink is her favorite, but as long as it’s soft, she’s not picky. When we go to get her out of her crib in the mornings or after naptimes, she always says, “Blanket. Wrap up.” and we have to wrap her up in her blanket before we can pick her up.

We love you, Ashleigh! (Oh, she says her whole name now, too!)

(P.S. Who’s the mom who puts her daughter in the same dress for her 1st AND 2nd birthday? That would be me. Oops!)

  1. So much cuteness! We have backseat drivers, too, though they're currently into monitoring the speedometer. Great things to look forward to! :) Love the update!
