16 months

Ashleigh at 16 months

I figured I would start out Ashleigh’s 16 month old update with a video so she can show off all her newly acquired skills. She’s one smart kiddo!

At 16 months, Ashleigh…

-has taken her third plane trip (to SC for vacation).

-celebrated her 2nd Christmas and New Years.

-went Christmas caroling with the youth from church.

-is wearing size 12 month clothing.

-is wearing size 3 diapers.

-is learning new ways to go up and down the stairs.

-loves giving hugs and kisses to the cats and dogs (and to people, too!)

-enjoys watching “Signing Time” videos and learning sign language.

-can sign “eat”, “more”, and “all done.”

-likes to help push the vacuum.

-enjoys being chased.

-can do most of the motions to “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.”

-has started doing some of the motions to “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”

-can point to her belly button, head, and nose/mouth.

-knows what a kitty cat says … “MOW” (that’s how she pronounces it.)

-still loves saying “dadda” and “kitty” and “meow”… will she ever say “mama”?!

-walks and runs all over the place.

-enjoys playing on small playgrounds and following other children around.

-likes playing in our blanket forts.

-thinks it’s funny to scoop up the dog food and toss it all over the kitchen (there’s a gate in that doorway now!)

-has fun playing in the snow.

-loves being outside (although we haven’t gone out too much!)

-figured out that her index finger fits perfectly in her nostril.

-likes to do funny things to make us laugh.

-giggles at everything!

-still scrunches up her nose when she laughs.

-has started being a bit disobedient… knows she’s not supposed to touch something and touches it anyway, then shakes her head no.

-loves doing laundry (dumping out the clothes, putting mommy’s shirts over her head, etc). She’s VERY helpful.

-is taking one nap every afternoon (unless we are in the car in the morning, and she always falls asleep in her carseat).

-is sleeping very well at night! Hooray! It’s been a long road to get to sleeping through the night consistently, but I think we’ve done it! She sleeps from around 7:30pm-7:00am.

-wants to do things herself (where does this independence come from?!)

-loves playing with all her toys. She keeps herself very entertained!

-has figured out how to step down off of a small platform… for example, we have a scale in our bathroom, and she gets on top of the scale and can step down to the floor without holding on to anything.

- is eating everything we eat. She still doesn’t look too many vegetables, so we have to hide them. She starts off her meal using her spoon, but she usually throws that on the floor by the third bite.

-still loves to read. It’s her favorite thing to do!

-is trying to climb up on things. Oh boy.

-has five teeth now.

-“talks” all the time. I love the sounds she makes!
